Indonesia Independence Day 2009, folks carnival...

This is a pic of Ondel-Ondel. A big doll rolled as a traditional culture symbol of Betawi folks. The genuine people that owned the land of Jakarta City. The city that once known as Batavia.

Today is the 64th ceremony of Indonesian Independence Day after it was claimed on August 17th, 1945.

It is celebrating by the Indonesian citizen all over the nation. Throughout the ethnics.

In this picture I only tell about the celebration as a traditional folk carnival. From a small area in Jakarta named Cempaka Baru region.

An RT 006 is just one of so many other whose following the carnival as participants in one RW 001. Rt and Rw is the smallest government organization to structurize its people. In your country perhaps it's just the same as combining several blocks of residence into one civil organisation?

This is a pic of our flag setting on the wall along the building on the street.

Every house in Indonesia is decorate with the Flag. The Red-White Indonesian Flag.

The colours are meant like these:
Red is for courage, braveness and honour.
White is for the truth, honesty and pureness.

These are children who participate on the carnival. The decorate their bikes and get on the road for fun and walk through several blocks around their homes.

Their mothers also accompany them, because most of the kids are still very young to let go without supervision.

All of the people seems very happy thought the weather is quite hot. Some of the adults wear funny costume and even put some make-up to get a laughing expression from audiences.

See the woman with red hair? It's not she..it's he...:))
